August is our best month for hummingbird watching because it’s the time of year we see the most hummingbirds.

It appears to us that the migration back home starts in early to mid August. The first sign is that the male hummingbirds have started showing up at our feeders more than usual. We also get more than one hummingbird at a time visiting, which causes them to chase each other around our yard. The photo below shows two hummingbirds staring at each other on our feeder.

Like clockwork every year, our visiting hummingbirds leave around the middle of September. So, we have about a month left of hummingbird watching.
